Student Guide

What I did…

In collaboration with Vinelife Church Students, I wrote the copy for an interactive guide to the best spots in Manchester. Students new to the city received a flyer with a QR code leading to info on some of the city’s best places for a coffee, brunch, night out, or study session. I had loads of fun researching some of my favourite locations, and learning about some new ones. Summarising them in one paragraph was the best sort of challenge!

COFFEE SHOPS

TAKK, NQ & OXFORD ROAD

With three Takk is a peaceful and fresh space inspired by minimalist Scandi style. Friendly baristas serve up single origin artisan roasted coffee with on-point latte art, and a brunch menu crafted in-house from good, honest ingredients. The menu offers homemade cakes, a new take on French toast, and plenty of sourdough bread. It’s ideal for catching up with some mates over a flat white, and is a good place to get some study done in a cosy spot that’s sure to spark new inspiration.

JUST BETWEEN FRIENDS, NQ

This is a hidden gem on bustling Tib Street, and is the ideal destination for rich espressos, silky foams, and some seriously elite latte art! Run by people who put passion into every espresso they make, this highly Instagrammable establishment serves up flakey pastries, bagels and fresh bakes. They love to collaborate with independent local roasteries, so you can always expect something new. Just Between Friends is your local takeaway coffee spot for those post-lecture pick-me-ups, or something to sip as you explore your surroundings.

KIOSK ON LAPWING, DIDSBURY

Come and see Manchester’s smallest coffee shop! Located in the thriving and trendy neighbourhood of West Didsbury, Kiosk is a bright pink 4 square metre cupboard turned coffee hatch. Sandwiched between a wine bar and the local post office, the crew serve lattes, mochas, espressos and filter coffees supplied by Blossom, an ethical roaster. Treat yourself to freshly baked goodies from Long Bois bakery. You might want to take away your coffee on a wander around the surrounding charity shops, or take a seat at a bistro table.

Surprise - Kiosk transforms into a happening cocktail bar at night when the weather’s good. Looking to support local female-run businesses? Stop off at Kiosk.
